Places I've visited - Travel summary 2018

Hello!!!
I’m back!

Inspired by my best friend Angelika who recently has become a blogger too (blog in polish) [click to see angieanga blog :) ], I decided to summarize last years travels.. and there were quite a few!

But first, let me explain why I was missing for so long. There is one explanation - studies and more precisely my master thesis. It is done, thank you, next!
I cannot believe that it is already April. I don’t understand how it happened, I think the Earth must be turning faster and days are shorter or something 😅. Jokes aside, really, is it only me or your time is also slipping through your fingers? You can let me know I’m the comments.

Let's go back to 2018! What a year!
This blog post is probably more personal...for me to remember all that happened. Let’s start from the beginning.

 Winter

I started the year from going to the Polish mountains on January 1st. As I remember there was not much snow but spending quality time with family is always nice. We stayed in Krynica Zdrój in Poland but had some trips to Slovakia. I had my birthday there, it was a refreshing and chill time, we were mostly walking talking and eating. Haha. Few photos and we move on:

Also in January, I went to Spain. Spain is the best! #Spainisthebest The same squat as before, we stayed in Torrevieja first. It is the Costa Bianca region in Andalusia. We rented an apartment next to the seashore and the view from the huge window was very nice, I wish I had a view like this in Lódz. From there we were going on trips to Murcia, Elche and other smaller cities. As it is just a summarizing post I will not write all the details what we saw and were. But check out the pictures, Spain is so beautiful. Let me remind you that it was January, so winter time. I don’t like cold and snow that much, so   Later we moved to Arenales del Sol, next to Alicante.

Alicante - city, mountains and sea on one picture!

Next to Arenales, there are salinas, places where people used to collect salt from the evaporated artificial lakes. Nowadays there are to lakes there, and nature preserve. One of the lakes is famous for its pink colour. It is pink because the microorganisms that live there. Because of the same reasons, flamingos get their pink colour. And actually, there were lots of them there. From Arenales, we have trips Alicante, Altea and Benidorm.  Amazing two weeks there, sun and warm weather is what I needed!

Spring:
Later during the year, I had to go back to winter in Poland and my studies. I also started this blog in March. On the 7th of March, I visited Dawid Wolinski in Warsaw, you can read that post here.
Also in March, my family gathered in the nice hotel close to Poznan to celebrate Easter and spend some time together, what is impossible normally during the year.
I also started planning the next small trip that you can read about here part1 & here part 2. We went to Paris in May. We stayed for two days, walked 30 kilometres and late moved to Disneyland for the next two days. We had some crazy and unexpected events, so go read those posts If you haven't already. Trip was smazing I felt like a child again... I feel like a kid all the time though.

Summer:
FINALLY! Haha, I started summer very well from a trip to... who can guess??

Spain of course!
Actually, I flew to Mallorca. I stayed in Can Picafort with my cousins and family, we swam in pools and amazing warm sea. I hate laying on the beach, fortunately, I didn’t have to. Mallorca is amazing, beautiful and the views are breathtaking.
On the island, we saw Cap the Formentor and Sa Calobra, but it required driving on mountain roads.. on narrow serpentines. I hate those, motion sickness activated. I tried the "spa" treatment that I saw many times where the Garra Rufa fishes bite of your cuticle.. It was actually really nice!
We went to Palma de Mallorca too, saw all of the important things there, and went to a famous wooden train. The 2-hour ride took us through tunnels and steep slopes. The ride was awesome! The train took us to Soller, the city famous for the orange juice and historical tram line. We jumped on one and it took us through the orange plantation to the port of Soller. You might not know, I absolutely love Spain :P I had an amazing time on Baleares.

Our hotel was nice!

I didn’t stay home for long. 7th of July me, my mom and grandma went for the next adventure. I don’t remember when was my last holiday with both mom and grandma, probably when I was a small kid. Firstly we drove to Warnemunde in northern Germany. And there we embarked to cruise ship MSC Orchestra. It was my 5th cruise I think but first in the north, on Baltic Sea. The itinerary was Warnemunde, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tallinn and Copenhagen. It would make a perfect blogpost.. pity I didn’t feel inspired at that time. Generally, if you don't know how the cruises work, every day the ship docks in a different port. During the day you can go on land and visit places, during night ship swim to another port. On the ship, there is plenty of activities to do, theatre, pools, spa, gym, bars, restaurant, casino and everything that you could expect from a few stars hotel. And there is pizza, unlimited,  already included... and alcohol. Cruises are not for everyone, they are specific, strange even, like high-class but not really cuz actually they are quite affordable for what you get. I like them, as I said not my first one. From places, we saw I was looking forward to Sankt Petersburg the most. I heard so much about that city and had to high expectation. It was ok, nothing special though. Don't get me wrong, the Hermitage has a great collection of art, and there are many things to do in the city, some buildings are beautiful. I didn't like the climate of the city, I don't know how to explain it. Strange feeling similar to what I felt in China on Tian'anmen Square in Beijing. Everything is beautiful but built not for citizens.   I liked Tallinn so much better. Didn't know much about this city and probably that is why I liked being surprised. Kopenhagen is absolutely stunning, I was in Tivoli, 2nd theme park that year and not the last one. I saw the mermaid, spent some time in the centre wandering around. I really like Scandinavian countries for their architecture and style, specific simplicity and the ecological approach to life. And for criminal novels.

My mom was attacked by fast and furious bike-rider though, not fun.

One week of August I spent in Mazury in Poland. I visited my family there, attended the crazy countryside wedding of my cousin and hugged the cows.

Autumn
Then until Octobre, nothing special was happening. I was few times in Warsaw, not much travelling.

On Octobre 6 we, in our little international squad, decided to go to Krakow for a little weekend break. Krakow was actually not the real destination, we stayed overnight, but the real aim was "Energylandia". It is the only big-scale theme park in Poland. My 3rd the same year. Actually, theme parks would also make a good post on the blog. I have already been to some, I love them and will be definitely still visiting the next ones! Ok, so we spent the whole day on extreme and more extreme rollercoasters. One ride I will remember forever. I was very scared to go on it. Looked like I was about to die there. But I went, it broked for a second while we were hanging 25 meters above the ground... but staff restarted it, and we had to survive more spins and turns than normally was expected. Unfortunately it was the last trip this year.

Crazy rollercoasters and rides! The red spinning one I was writing about.
